Biography
Mr Patel grew up, trained and qualified in London. His undergraduate training included Kings College London and The Barts and The London Medical School. He subsequently undertook run through training in ophthalmology in London, which included training in reputable centres such as Kings College Hospital and the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital.
He is UK trained at some of the world renowned institutes which enables him to provide excellent medical and surgical care across all aspects of Ophthalmology, with his expertise being Glaucoma, Cataract and refractive surgery.
Mr. Patel has completed sub-specialist fellowship training in the field of Glaucoma at Kings Hospital before his fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital which was cut short having been shortlisted and appointed as a substantive consultant in the NHS where he is currently working.
During his training he has been recognised for his dedication to his work with a number of awards the most recent being awarded by Health Education England for his work in reducing risks to patients that are admitted into hospital. He has presented his work to both regional and international audiences.
He holds a Post graduate diploma in Cataract and Refractive surgery for which he was one of the few awarded a distinction and was later awarded the Certificate of Laser Refractive Surgery by the Royal College of Ophthalmology.
Outside work he is also involved in recruiting and examining medical students a role he feels is important to ensure that patients get the best possible clinicians in the future.
In his spare time he enjoys football and cricket. He feels strongly about the importance of helping those less fortunate and looks forward to spending time abroad in deprived quarters of the world to help preserve sight in the most venerable, once the challenges of the pandemic is over.
